The wonderful 1953 French comedy starring and directed by Jacques Tati is showing in conjunction with Dumfries Museum and their exhibition, ‘The Ever Changing, Changeless Sea’, which runs until the end of July 2025.
Monsieur Hulot comes to a beachside hotel for a vacation and accidentally, but good-naturedly, causes havoc. The film introduced the pipe-smoking, well-meaning but clumsy character of Monsieur Hulot, who appears in Tati's subsequent films, including Mon Oncle, Playtime, and Trafic.
