One of his paintings (a copy) was on the wall of my school so he has been a presence all of my life. I am delighted we got to make a film about and with him. A life lived to the full in art."

As he entered his ninth decade, Hockney showed absolutely no evidence of slowing down or losing his trademark boldness.
