This screening of How To Train Your Dragon is captioned. A Captioned Screening is a service for D/deaf and hard of hearing audience members providing subtitles to enable understanding of the film’s dialogue and off-screen action. Captioning includes the text of all onscreen dialogue as well as off-screen sounds, enabling people with varying hearing loss access to the full cinema experience. The screening is open to all customers.

RAN (which translates as ‘turmoil’) is Kurosawa’s profound exploration of Shakespeare’s King Lear intertwined with the historical backdrop of Japan’s 16th century Civil Wars and the legendary tale of Morikawa, a feudal warlord with three sons. Kurosawa’s final film was immediately recognised as a masterpiece upon its release and garnered numerous awards, including the Oscar for Best Costume Design and BAFTA awards for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Makeup.
