Director Martyn Robertson is joined by the cast of the film and special guest former professional footballer Kenny Deuchar to launch the release of the Make It To Munich at the Robert Burns Centre Film Theatre.
Make It To Munich follows Ethan Walker, who decides to cycle from Scotland to Germany for Scotland's opening match against Germany in Euro 2024 - just nine months after a horrific accident.

‘The Gaze’ is a short film by Anna Murray and accompanying song focusing on the impact the male gaze has on the daily lives of women and non-binary people. It explores the ways in which we view ourselves in the third person in order to fit into a standard of being that doesn’t see us as three dimensional people with flaws and ugly parts, human functions and unpleasant thoughts. It draws particular inspiration from Margaret Atwood’s quote in ‘The Robber Bride’, “Even pretending you aren’t catering to male fantasies is a male fantasy… that you can wash your feet or comb your hair unconscious of the ever-present watcher peering through the keyhole… in your own head. You are a woman with a man inside, watching a woman.” And John Berger’s quote in ‘Ways of Seeing’, “A woman must continually watch herself. She is almost continually accompanied by her own image of herself.” The film follows one woman in moments of her life as she struggles with this concept. ‘
This screening is part of Creative Spaces Showcase 2025. Creative Spaces is a collective of Dumfries-based young creatives, working with and advocating for the region’s young artists.
