Each film delves into the depths of fear, obsession, and the unknown, transforming intangible nightmares into hauntingly beautiful visual experiences. Through a blend of striking artistry and storytelling, creators from around the world unravel cautionary tales that warn of human folly, bring to life the monsters lurking within, and paint chilling visions of futures twisted by our own desires and mistakes. Together, these animated works remind us that sometimes, the most terrifying worlds are the ones we create ourselves. The programme will feature films from four continents, including some of the most exciting titles on the current festival circuit.

Carl Reiner's comedy-mystery stars Steve Martin as private detective Rigby Reardon who is hired by Juliet Forrest (Rachel Ward) to investigate the death of her father, a scientist who was working on a mysterious project. As the case unfolds, Reardon encounters Nazis, espionage, murder and a bizarre plot involving mind control.
Masterfully incorporating clips from classic noir films, digitally inserting Steve Martin into scenes with legendary actors such as Humphrey Bogart, Barbara Stanwyck, Burt Lancaster, Ava Gardner, James Cagney and Ingrid Bergman, the film is both a loving tribute to and a parody of 1940s film noir.
A playful but precise homage to classic noir, Carl Reiner’s film creates a detective story built from cinema itself. Beneath the humour lies an affectionate critique of noir tropes—reminding us that even the myths we tell ourselves about crime, power and truth are constructed.

At a cosy Christmas party, young Clara meets the mysterious magician Drosselmeyer, who gives her a nutcracker doll. In the run-up to the 1972 elections, Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward covers what seems to be a minor break-in at the Democratic Party National headquarters. He is surprised to find top lawyers already on the defense case, and the discovery of names and addresses of Republican fund organizers on the accused further arouses his suspicions. The editor of the Post is prepared to run with the story and assigns Woodward and Carl Bernstein to it. They find the trail leading higher and higher in the Republican Party, and eventually into the White House itself. The brand-new 4K restoration of Alan J. Pakula's timely political thriller is back in cinemas for its 50th anniversary.
