What’s On
Fashion Reimagined (12A)
Documentary about a fashion designer who sets out to create a collection that’s sustainable and ethical at every level.
Fashion designer Amy Powney, of cult label Mother of Pearl, is a rising star in the London fashion scene. Raised off-the-grid in rural England by activist parents, Amy has always felt uneasy about the devastating environmental impact of her industry.
After the screening, Dumfriesshire-based artist Denise Zygadlo will give a short talk about her approach to garments and the resurgence of mending, as an extension of her artistic practice. Denise will draw upon Orsola De Castro’s book, Loved Clothes Last (2021; Penguin Life), as well as an ongoing project on the theme of kept cloth, looking at associations with items of clothing that are cherished.
